  1. Legs are lame, hot and sore when nails are touched
  2. First the nails are swollen, and flaky
  3. Growing lumps that cause pain
  4. Slow or non-aggressive movement
  5. Decreased appetite, resulting in decreased meat and milk production
  6. Removing blood fluid on the wound, if continued then remove pus
  7. It even causes paralysis and difficulty walking.

Control:

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the cage, feed and drinking places, equipment used, and breeders
  • Try to make ventilation, so that it is exposed to direct sunlight
  • Avoiding the use of non-uniform goats
  • Avoid using forage that is too wet.
  • Using superior and well-selected tiller. 

Treatment:

  • Cut the nails on livestock, then doused it with alcohol so that the infected germs and bacteria die. Do a bandage on the leg and avoid the goat in a damp and dirty place.
  • Cut the infected nail with a knife or scissors, then treat it with an antiseptic such as a 10-20% formaldehyde solution. Then treat also with sulfatizole ointment and apply a bandage on the infected nail inflammation.
