Factors Affecting Animal Growth and Development
- Factors affecting growth and development in animals are divided into two parts, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include genes (genetic) hormones, race, age and sex, while external factors include food nutrition, temperature, sunlight, physical activity, environment and maintenance management.

1. Internal Factors (Internal Factors)

A. Genes (Genetics)

Genes are one of the most important factors and greatly affect the growth and development of animals. This gene is a trait that is passed down from its parents. According to Thomas Hunt Morgan, also suggests that genes are compact material and contain units of genetic information that regulate heredity, meeting the locus of a chromosome. Genes also regulate various kinds of character, traits, physique and behavior of animals. Therefore, genes have an important role in animals, because they determine the quality and quantity of animals that will be produced.

B. Hormone

Hormones are a very important factor and greatly affect the growth and development of animals. Hormones in animals are substances or compounds that regulate the activities of the animal's body. If the hormone is unstable, it will cause the growth and development of the animal to be slow.

C. Race (Nation)

Race is also a determining factor in the growth and development of animals. This is because animals will grow and develop according to their respective races. For example, bali cattle are shorter in body posture and not too big when compared to limousine cattle which have large body postures.

D. Age

Age is also a factor that greatly affects the growth and development of animals. Animals that have an old age have very slow growth and development, even they are no longer growing in production and deserve to be rejected. Therefore, age is very decisive in the growth and development of animals. So choose the age of the animal that is still young so that it grows and develops.

E. Gender

Gender also greatly influences the growth and development of animals. Usually the sex of the male animal grows faster and his body posture is larger when compared to the sex of the female animal.

2. External Factors (External Factors)

A. Food Nutrient

Food nutrition is very important and greatly affects the growth and development of animals. Lack of nutritional intake will result in slow growth, decreased appetite, decreased production and even lead to abnormalities. Usually animals need nutrients, such as minerals, vitamins, protein and high fiber feed sources.

B. Temperature

Temperature is also a very important factor in the growth and development of animals. Temperatures that are too low and too high or unstable will cause stunted animal growth. Normal temperature is usually around 37 degrees Celsius.

C. Sunlight

Unstable sunlight will greatly affect the growth and development of animals. Therefore, when raising animals, provide ventilation so that sunlight enters the cage.

D. Physical Activity

Physical activity is also a factor that greatly affects the growth and development of animals. The activity of animals that are less active, due to too narrow a cage will inhibit the growth and development of animals. Therefore, use a cage that is not too narrow so that the animal will move actively.

E. Environment

The environment is one of the important things in the growth and development of animals. We recommend that you choose an environment that is far from settlements, industry, crowds and places that are not polluted. This will greatly affect growth and development, due to animal discomfort.

F. Maintenance Management

Breeding management is very important to know in the growth and development of animals. By doing proper and correct maintenance, it will greatly help the process of animal growth and development. If not carried out properly maintenance can inhibit growth and even lead to failure in the process of growth and development.

Thus the information about  the Factors Affecting the Growth and Development of Animals. Hopefully the above article can be useful and useful. Thank you.
