Nemo fish or clown fish are a type of ornamental fish that can live 3 to 6 years, especially in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This fish has a size of about 7.5 to 10 cm and lives in a water temperature range between 24-27 degrees Celsius. Clown fish that are still wild are known to be very difficult to adjust to new environments so it is recommended to keep clown fish from captivity.
Clown fish require more care than other fish such as goldfish and others. It needs warm salty water similar to saltwater from the sea.
Spawning
Spawning is done by inserting male and female breeders who are about 5-6 months old. In an aquarium with a water discharge of 100 liters, approximately 6 male brooders are added and approximately 6 male breeds are added.
In order for spawning to go well, in the aquarium added plants or sea anemones that are arranged beautifully and comfortably if necessary, made as if they were in their natural habitat.
During the spawning period, give clown fish the preferred food such as pellets, small artemia shrimp or plankton.
After the clown fish find a partner, then the mating process will occur. When it starts laying eggs, the male and female clown fish will clean the substrate on the anemone or plants in the aquarium to lay the eggs.
Clown fish eggs will be placed neatly on the anemone in the aquarium by the female parent. After about 10 days, the clown fish eggs will hatch and are ready to be harvested for the larvae. The larvae that hatch can reach up to 300 clown fish larvae.
Larvae Maintenance and Enlargement
After the larvae hatch, the larvae can be removed from the broodstock. In 100 liters of water can be placed about 300-500 larvae.
The transfer of larvae is done by using a fine scoop. The clown fish larvae are fed with plankton that is adjusted to the size of the mouth of the fish larvae, the food can be branchionus, copepods, nauplii, artemia, diaphanosoma and also pellets. If the larvae have become adult fish, they can be trained with pellet feed.
This is because the nutrients needed by adult clownfish tend to be less than when they were larvae. The ratio of giving pellets and live feed such as plankton and so on is 75%:25%.
Adult Clown Fish Care
After the clown fish begin to mature, take care of them properly. Change the pool water regularly at least once a day by removing about 20 percent of the water discharge and replace it with new water. Perform regular feeding that is as much as 3 times a day or if needed, depending on the needs of the fish.
The more often you feed the fish, the more often you will clean the aquarium. Don't forget to give water plants or anemones in the aquarium for the clown fish to hide while playing and so that the growth and health of the fish are maintained and also as if they were in their natural habitat.
